“When everything’s said and done there’s usually more said than done…..”
I had an interesting thought that I wrote about on my other blog.
We read, we listen, we attend workshop after workshop but somewhere we have to do more than get coaching we have to do what the coach says. If you want to improve in an area you have to apply what your learning.
Why do we run to the vendor area and look for the children’s ministry easy button? It’s not there. Tools can help, I love them but if you want to improve in an area you have to apply what your learning.
Why do we think if we keep doing the same old things we’ll get different results. Plain and simple - if you want different results it calls for different actions. You need to apply the Nike principle and “just do it!”
Jim, this is a huge challenge that I have seen and think about all the time as well. Over on my blog on May 1st I had posted on this same topic that at the time I had just read from churchrelevance.com titled, “Just do it.”
I enjoy how in your post you say: “It comes down to you”. That is the big difference from those who run around looking for the easy button from those who “just do it”. There are an incredible amount of potentially great children’s pastors out there who just don’t seem to make the connection that applying (just doing it) the great insights from all the books, seminars, teachings etc. must just be done.
There are no short cuts or easy buttons to see the fulfillment of what God wants done in His church. We must take the time to execute these plans and no one else can do this for us, but if we don’t do this God can raise up others who will do something different - they will take the time to execute.
Thanks Todd,
the truth is everybody wants the end result but not always willing to make the changes in their self to pull it off. I’ve said this many times but “I was not qualified for the job I have today when I got it in 1990.” I had to apply what I knew, learn some more and apply it. I still have to do that today.
Thanks for reading and posting

This applies also to let’s say, doing cardio work. People may have the desire for the end result but might be having problems making the changes to pull it off.
Not that I know anyone like that, I was only speaking hypothetically of course.
Thanks Jim for giving of yourself all these years.
