My wife bought me an iPod for my birthday a few weeks ago. I had been holding out for the wide-screen video iPod that has been on the rumor wheel for a year or two. With the launch of the iPhone, I decided that it would be a while before Apple introduces an iPod that competes with it’s new phone. (No I don’t own an iPhone. I’m a APPLE junkie, but love my Blackberry.)
I love my iPod. I listen to music more now. One thing I have learned is this: the music that was popular when I was a teenager isn’t popular anymore. I guess that’s how life works. What’s in style today is lost with time.
The same is true in ministry. Your ministry skills might be remarkable for a time, but if you don’t reinvent yourself, you won’t be remarkable for long. Change is not a four-letter word. Be willing to grow and change. Go to that conference. Take a break and join to that networking meeting. Buy a new book and read it. Hey, buy some new music too. It’s necessary for staying on the cutting-edge.
So, before you go, go, go, do you stop? I hear you don’t know that much about astronauts. I don’t mean to bug you, but God loves you, because you are a V.I.P. to G-O-D. Hasta Winnebago!
(For those of you sitting there in total confusion, this is an inside joke. Ryan has a tendency to antagonize me with catchy Children’s Ministry songs that he stores on his iPod.)
Enjoyed your post here, but, please let me ask you what do you like about your blackberry? I too am an apple junkie but I also have a blackberry 8700 and i am trying to find good in it. Any advice or great things to share would be appreciated.
oh Mr. McKeever… one should never put down an apple product in the presence of Pastor Ryan or Mr. Doyle. you are treading thin ice… lol:)
For the record, BlackBerrys are not Apple products. They are made by Research in Motion.
Todd, about the BlackBerry- You’re probably not going to like my answer to this question, but I love my BB. It may also have to do with the model which I’m using. I’m using the BlackBerry Curve, the latest BB from AT&T. It has a camera, plays music and movies, has expandable storage, and the full QWERTY keyboard BB users know and love. Oh yeah, and it gets email instantly. (Which is both a plus and a minus at times, but…) For me, my BlackBerry has quite nearly replaced my laptop when I am traveling. I can play games and do lots of cool stuff with it, and it’s just barely thicker than my last phone, my Motorola RAZR. The wide yet short form factor has taken a bit of getting used to, but all in all I think its a pretty nice smartphone.
I am interested: what don’t you like about your BlackBerry?
thank you for the correction evan:)
Todd,
I don’t know what model of Blackberry I have. It’s about a year old. I love the instant email most of all and the SureType keyboard. I haven’t had any problems.
So Todd, are you thinking about the iPhone?
Ryan
Ryan-
Bad BB user, not knowing your model number. For the record, it’s 7130c (that’s pretty bad when I know his model number, but he doesn’t). And also, are you so sure that you love your SureType keyboard? I recall a few email replies which were something like “I hate SureType.” Just something random.
geesh evan, what r you… the technology police?
Sorry for the long delay in getting back I have been over my head in doing training’s at a ton of churches and running some outreaches as well.
First, Brianna I am sorry if you misunderstood me, I would never ever put down any apple product. I am a die hard Apple fan.
The BB I have is an 8700g. I enjoy the keyboard and all. It has crashed on my twice within a month and 11 days. I traded the first one in after having it for only a few days and then a little while ago, it crashed again. I have it up and going now and have also discovered missing sync which i am enjoying as well.
I think if I did not have to stay with T-Mobile then I could have gotten another BB device like the curve which I hear good things about. I did just find where to get a Bible for my BB and have loaded it. I wish I could see Flash web sites on my BB though.
Any great BB sites known of would be appreciated if anyone would share.
Sorry I got derailed with the BB discussion, I wanted to ask Ryan, who are you listening to now? Who have you added music wise, as a more current type music? What books have you been reading recently to help you stay on the cutting edge?
