Mystery Bag Prizes

Here’s a fun way to give away two quiet seat prizes in Kid’s Church. Put each prize in a paper grocery bag before the kids arrive. Announce that at the end you will reward one boy and one girl each a mystery bag prize. Here’s the catch… the winners get to choose to show off their prize or keep it a mystery!

This morning in my Kid’s Church, the girl winner decided to keep it a surprise and the boy decided to show his prize off to the class. After church, Madison (the girl winner) had a ton of kids ask, “what’s in the bag?” She wouldn’t tell. I love it!

This is a fun new way to give away prizes. Remember, come up with lots of different ways of doing the same thing.

I used this idea last Sunday and the kids loved it!! But, I added an extra element. I told them to look for 2 hidden ‘prize bags’ somewhere in the room, but they couldn’t leave their seats - I didn’t want that much commotion!!. They found them hidden in the fish nets above their chairs. I told them the rules (we always draw names at the end for our quiet seat prizes). They got to spend the whole 1 1/2 hours with the bags over their heads - wondering. One child chose to keep the secret - the other chose to show and tell.

I’m gonna use this one for a while and hide the bags in a different spot each week.

Thanks for all you do to help those of us in the ministry.

In His Service and Lovin’ It, Denise
