This week in Wal-Mart I was reminded why I love the fall season. Ready? The Halloween candy hits the shelves. Am I the only children’s pastor who loves walking slowly (and I mean slowly) down the long aisle of individually wrapped Halloween candy? Do you find yourself thinking, “the kids would love this!”? Varieties of candy that you can never find make their appearance this time of year. Why can’t they sell this much candy all year long?
You know you’re a children’s pastor when… you find yourself blogging about Halloween candy at Wal-Mart (and you can’t wait to go buy some more).
You also know you’re a children’s pastor when you can’t wait for the after Halloween clearance sales to get cool costume stuff for your prop box!
Exactly, Lori!! That is what I cannot wait for! I always get amazing things to add to my costume collection and the kids LOVE it!!
I too love the clearance sale price on costumes. This is where I save a good portion of my budget for props is for this time. I also enjoy when spring comes along and I send out teams of my volunteers to go to garage sales. I try to build a contest into it to see who can get the most good stuff for the least amount of money. Give 3-4 teams $100.00 in cash and watch you end up with at times, $900-1,000.00 worth of goods.
That is so true- this made me laugh and glad that I’m not alone!!
Forget the candy, I’m all about the props , my favorite Wal-mart Halloween find was my vegetable head masks. They changed my life!

aahhhhh! Candy! I buy it and make sure I taste test it several times to make sure I can tell the kids how good it is (secretly knowing that they already know, it just gives me a good excuse to buy cool candy).
The costumes are cool too, I just don’t have enough self control to walk through any clearance isle at Walmart.
