1. Get those monkeys off your back. Deal with problems and don’t let them weigh you down. Remember that procrastination is the biggest thief of time.
2. Get training. Go to a good conference targeted to Children’s Pastors and leaders.
3. Delegate. Get experienced people to help you.
4. Renew yourself spiritually.
5. Get control of your tasks don’t let your tasks control you.
6. Learn from others. Let every person teach you.
7. Be a planner. Anticipate what is coming ahead.
8. Treat yourself to something special now and then. Buy some new clothes. Go on that shopping trip. Take a few days off and stay at home.
9. Make much of prayer.
10. Don’t take yourself and those around you too seriously. Lighten up.
I can’t tell you what a difference learning to delegate has made in my life and ministry. I was running around trying to do it all for my first 6 months and was already burning out. Since then, I’ve looked for people to give things to, and let them do it. If it doesn’t get done exactly the way I would do it, thats not always a bad thing.
Making much of prayer has revitalized my ministry probably more than anything. As ministry leaders especially, we are ‘too busy not to pray’. I have seen that once I take the time to pray, I seem to have enough time to get everthing else done.
How about break this incredible list down into 10 posts and dive a little deeper into them, providing examples and resources. Then others could add their thoughts, ideas, and resources to each post. Could be really beneficial. Just an idea.
Thanks
Here’s a #11 to your list. Make a List!
I was feeling overwhelmed at the beginning of the week. I made a list, assigned both staff & volunteers 1-2 items each. And now - on Thursday afternoon - the list is complete.
Now I can breathe easier & actually enjoy my day off tomorrow!
Great feedback guys. Travis, that’s a good idea about breaking them apart. Thanks!
