I am with the KidzMatter staff at Children’s Pastors’ Conference in San Diego this week. This morning in a meeting, Judy Comstock (INCM Director and K! Editor) told me about a church that her and her husband visited recently. The church gave everyone money when they came in the door (some a buck, some five and others ten). The pastor then preached on the parable the three stewards in Matthew 25. How powerful.
Maybe you need to run to the bank between now and Sunday.
Everyone ought to love being a leader for the Lord Jesus Christ. I am teaching through the Epistles of John to the adults in my church on Thursday nights. The apostle John said “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (3 John 4). John loved leadership!
Another one of my heros who loved leadership was D.L. Moody. In the spring of 1861 young Moody heard a preacher say, “The world has yet to see what God can do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him.” Moody later that day wrote these words: “He did not say a great man, or a learned man, or a rich man, or an eloquent man, or a clever man, simply a man. I am a man and by God’s grace for God’s glory I will be that man.”
D.L. Moody later said, “I love leadership. I want to be the man God uses to influence this world for the cause of Christ.”
Do you love leadership? Every children’s pastor, preacher, parent, ought to love leadership because of the great possibility of influencing others for Christ!
